The beds were nice. The morning after the people at reception were really nice and the bellboy opened and closed the door for me. They make a nice pandan latte coffee in the adjacent coffeeplace near the reception.

Friendly staff at reception. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Luckily the hotel room window was double glazing, therefore the noise of the prayer was limited, so we could have a good night rest. Breakfast buffet was delicious, every day the chef cooked different meals. Staff at breakfast very friendly too. I would really recommend this hotel!

The food in Medan is superb, although some rumah makan did not really practice hygiene. Generally, it was easy to find non-halal and halal restaurants. Jong Ah Fie Mansion is awesome. Im impressed that a lot of the things there are well preserved. Istana Maimoon is okay for buying handcrafts. The Graha Bunda Maria Annai Velangkanni church is very unique too. However, I must admit that Lake Toba is the main highlight of my visit there. The lake is super beautiful and I really enjoy my stay and time at Lake Toba - Samosir, Karo, Berastagi etc...will definitely recommend travellers who enjoy immersing themselves in peaceful nature to visit Lake Toba. :) Seriously, the sunrise and sunset are mind blowing.

Medan, indeed all of Sumatra is much cleaner than Java.
Medan, indeed all of Sumatra is much cleaner than Java. A lot more pride taken civically. Most folk uses Medan as their entry point to Toba. I just wished I'd spent more time in Medan first. Lovely place.

Medan is a great arrival and exit city for access to Sumatra
There is a good number of attractions for a day tour of the city of Medan itself and I would recommend this.
Aside from this is it best to stay in the places you are visiting.
Unlike what the internet may suggest you definitely cannot do a day tour to Lake Toba from Medan in one day unless you want to spend anywhere from 10 to 17 hours in a car. I do not recommend... at all.
A sunrise hike of Mount Sibayak from Medan is doable but will be very tiring and I would recommend staying in Berastagi instead.

Medan is a humid place. There are little trees in the city. Food is plentiful and tasty. However, due to drainage problem, it has lots of mosquitoes flying around. One can easily be bitten by them. So, always carry a bottle of insect spray.

I was only there overnight, arriving early evening by air and travelling on the next day. My hotel was perfectly located for airport train access. The city is huge and sprawling, can't really judge based on such a limited stay. I did have a very bad experience at the Pinang Baris bus station the day I was leaving. No one else around, just a group of very unfriendly men, waiting to overcharge you. I knew my trip to Bukit Lamang should be around 30,000...they quoted me 150,000, we settled on 100,000. I just wanted to get where I was going but they were very unpleasant. A lot of money was changing hands as I got in the battered old van...they think they've really pulled something over on you. It just confirmed in my mind that I won't be back in Medan or if I am...I will use any mode of transport but them. Crooks.
The staff were very accommodating, very polite and kind. The breakfast buffet every morning was great. I could text them on WhatsApp to communicate with the hotel--that is great. They found a car and driver for me to rent to take me on a tour of the town. Free airport pick-up and drop-off. It is a quiet place, near the airport but far from Medan. The bed was comfortable. The swimming pool was clean. The staff spoke some English.
Friendly reception staff with good English. Very clean throughout with daily room service. Good wifi. Short walk from the railway station and airport train. Good breakfast, good restaurant across the street, plenty of local eateries in side streets (left out of the hotel, first left, if you are OK with eating from a street stall, the first stall on the left will do you a delicious lunch for under a dollar).
Zack, the owner, was super friendly and helpful. He woke up around midnight to show me my room. The morning after he gave me many tips and explanations about Indonesia. I'm even still in contact with him. Ideal place to start your trip. Location is perfect for one night if you just arrived in Medan. It's nearby the airport.
Best option for airport hotel. We had a lot of big luggage, so they even added a 2nd shuttle to the airport so we basically had a private car. Comfortable, huge spacious room, more comfort than I'm used to for an airport hotel in Indonesia. Also great staff that is very used to foreigners needing to get to the airport.
Its a modern and chick hotel. I felt a lot more comfortable staying here than other older hotels in Medan. Kama is located opposite the famous TIP TOP restaurant and busy street, so if you really need peace while sleeping, might not be a good location, as the vehicles were quite noisy until midnight.
A really great hotel for a comfortable stay. Near so many of the' must see' locations of Medan. Fine rooms well maintained with very modern bathrooms. Great buffet breakfasts and helpful staff. The only place I would consider staying in Medan on my next visit.
It was a place to sleep in Medan, I wouldn’t come back unless I was desperate. The hotel itself is fine (beds are fine, has AC and a gym) but the service is the worst I’ve ever experienced at a hotel - the Mercure franchise should be ashamed.
I think the best stay in Medan! Nice stay, team is very nice, especially the hard-working girls at the reception/ restaurant, like Wina!
Medan is a crazy city, but still we had lots of fun to explore!
Thanks for staying!
The friendly Personal (Agus, Nilawatk and Didi) and the very friendly mister who created an Indonesian breakfast for me. I feel sorry not to know his name. If we come back to Medan. JW Marriott will again be our choice.
Polite staff (but need to improve their english language skills. Be careful coz they act like they understand but they don't sometimes).
Location.
Colaboration with motorbike rental (brought at hotel).
Laundry service.
i love the body massage service ! after long walk thru the shopping mall , i feel relieved and extended in this hotel for another couple night ! this price reasonable aswell, so i got no reason to not staying here :)
The location was great. Nearby to the city centre. Plenty of restaurants and food stalls in walking distance. The room is clean. The bed is comfy. Wifi is working fine, even though some might be blank.
A little oasis outside of Medan and an escape from the busy streets of Medan. The garden, buildings and rooms are beautiful and comfortable. For the money, it's a great value.
Services by the staff were great!!! Breakfast was good! All the foods was superb! The location of hotel was very good as it near the town and a few restaurants.
If you are transiting through Medan, you cannot beat the convenience and efficiency of this hotel. Professional staff, clean rooms...everything you need.
